The department of Civil Engineering was established in 1983 right from the inception of our institution and serves as one of the premier departments in the institution. The department is equipped with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, highly qualified and dedicated faculty. The alumni of the department of Civil Engineering serve in leading positions in various Government departments, Corporate Sectors and many of them have attained great heights as Entrepreneurs serving the society at large.
We are a Technical Consultancy Service provider, a unit of ‘Pattukkottai Polytechnic College’, Pattukkottai. The center for civil testing and consultancy services has been in existence since the inception of our institution. The civil testing and consultancy services coordinates to commercialize testing, certification and structural design in a wider spectrum of construction engineering disciplines.
THE SERVICES BEING PROVIDED IN CIVIL TESTING AND CONSULTANCY SERVICES ARE:
– Testing and certification of all types of construction materials like bricks, stones, cement, sand, jelly, mortar, concrete, steel, tiles, wood, bitumen, soil, water, etc.
– Geo-Technical survey such as soil investigation, Plate load test to assess safe bearing capacity of soil, etc..
– Mix design for various grades of concrete.
– Engineering survey for preparing layout, contour plan and for preparation of estimates related to earth work.
– Design of structural components including foundation of the building projects.
– Design and detailing of steel structures.
– Design and detailing of water supply works including the design of overhead water tanks.
– Design and detailing of sanitary engineering works.
– Design and detailing of culverts and bridges.
